Founder

After completing his articles in 1995, Evan spent almost 30 years in the asset management industry. Evan is the founder of Inyosi and has developed Inyosi’s Enterprise and Supplier Development funds as a scalable and sustainable solution to a national B-BBEE need. Evan has overseen the growth and development of a well-supported and well recognized enterprise and supplier development business, and has managed to oversee the growth of the Inyosi team to almost 20 people over the past 10 years. Evan has also grown Inyosi’s offering to include being the Youth Employment Service (YES) implementation partner of choice to a number of Inyosi’s clients.

Sapna Gihwala

Head: Investments

After graduating from the University of Cape Town (UCT) with a BBusSci in Finance with Accounting, and before joining Inyosi as a Credit Analyst in 2018, Sapna spent some time as a Credit Analyst at the Fintech company, Lulalend. Since joining Inyosi, Sapna has completed her postgraduate degree in Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management and continued building on her experience and skillset which has aided her growth within Inyosi Empowerment. Since being promoted to head of the investment team, Sapna leads and oversees the investment team which includes the loan systems team. She is responsible for the deal structuring, deal execution and post-deal monitoring across the Supplier Development and Enterprise Development funds.

Richard Stronach

Investment Specialist

Richard is currently an Investment Specialist at Inyosi. He is responsible for deal structuring and deal execution.

Richard completed articles in 1997 (PWC CT) and spent several years with the firm in the UK and South Africa in Investment Management Audit, Transactions Services and Forensic Services. Richard then practiced as a Director of a medium-sized firm of Chartered Accountants in Public Practice.

In 2008 Richard joined the Technology Innovation Agency focusing on support of SME businesses in aspects of funding, financial and risk management, governance, as well as monitoring and evaluation. After a year as Head of Risk at Zoona, a digital financial services and mobile money provider, Richard joined the Inyosi team on 1 February 2018 as Senior Portfolio Analyst.

Suzanne is part of the investment team and assesses credit applications, liaises with borrowers and helps maintain the loan book. Suzanne has 10+ years’ experience as an analyst, primarily focused on SME funding. Suzanne had obtained a BCom Investment Management Honours from the University of Pretoria and has completed CFA Level II. Suzanne has previously worked in macro-economics and financial markets at ETM Analytics and asset finance at Merchant West.

Kaveer assists borrowers in achieving their growth targets by structuring and executing optimal funding packages.

After completing his PDGA at UCT (2019) he joined FitstRand’s CA TOPP Training Programme and worked, inter alia, as a Junior Corporate Finance Transactor at both RMB Equity Capital Markets and FNB Advisory and Credit Analyst in Ashburton’s Fixed Income Fund. Upon completion of his articles in 2021 he joined FNB’s Leveraged Finance as a dealmaker, focusing on funding corporate actions and M&A activity in the SME space.

Assistant Credit Analyst

Larissa assists the Investment team with their deals. This includes but is not limited to drafting addendums and Notifications of Default, reviewing and analysing compliance documentation and assisting with the daily needs of the team to ensure that deals are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

After completing her Honours in Applied Developmental Economics at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2020, she went on to work at Burgiss as a Junior Financial Data Analyst in the company’s Private Equity and Hedges team for six months and was then promoted to a Level 1 Financial Data Analyst.

Murendiwa Nembudani

Head: Finance and Human Resources Manager

Murendiwa heads the Finance department of Inyosi, taking charge of all the finance aspects of Inyosi, including payroll, debtors and creditors.

Murendiwa previously worked at KPMG Denver, Colorado, USA before joining the Inyosi team as a Senior Audit Associate. Prior to this Murendiwa worked at KPMG Johannesburg, where she did her articles and qualified as a CA(SA). During her articles, Murendiwa spent 6 months in the department of Technical Accounting within KPMG where she got the opportunity to work as an IFRS technical advisor.

Sadia Liddell

Financial Accountant

Sadia works in the finance department and is responsible for Tax returns and planning, creditors payments and management account preparation. She assists Murendiwa and acts as the finance team liaison.

Sadia previously worked at an accounting and advisory firm where she gained extensive experience in Accounting and Business Development.

Sadia is currently finalising her CIMA studies and completed an online Accounting Course at Dawson College, Montana.

Portfolio Monitoring and Overview

Currently, Shanon is responsible for portfolio monitoring and maintenance. Shanon provides Inyosi and all borrowers with up to date information about the status of each loan. Shanon is also responsible for the annual information collection and audit of the B-BBEE status of each borrower.

Shanon attained her BCom Finance degree at the University of Johannesburg in 2012. After completing her BCom Honours in Investment Management at the University of Johannesburg, Shanon worked at STANLIB Asset Management for year as a graduate trainee in the Balanced Fund Franchise and 6 months as an Investment Performance Analyst within STANLIB.

Sisanda Manzana

Portfolio Administration Assistant

Sisanda is part of the post-investment monitoring team. Sisanda initially completed her internship with Inyosi as a finance administration clerk, where she assisted with book-keeping, and worked closely with the various departments within Inyosi. In addition, Sisanda assisted with key administration for the YES (Youth Employment Services) program and assisted with client relationship management.

In 2020, Sisanda attained her Advanced Diploma in management.

Junior Bookkeeper

Her career started with a passion for numbers and a knack for organization which then led to her pursuing a formal education in accounting at UCT.

She assists in ensuring the Makhoba Farm’s accounting records are up-to-date, reconciled and organized using various accounting software and tools, such as Sage, Xero, and Excel.

Ntombenceba works closely with the investment team as an admin clerk. Ntombenceba completed her internship at Inyosi during which time she participated in various finance and administration related roles. Ntombenceba now assists with bookkeeping and she is responsible for preparing source documentation for transactions and operations. In addition, Ntombenceba assists the YES Placement Coordinator with key administration.

Tania currently heads the Inyosi Marketing and Sales division, assisting companies seeking to invest in Inyosi’s Enterprise and Supplier Development solutions.

Tania attained her Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning from The University of Stellenbosch Business School. Tania’s career in the Financial Services industry began in December 1996.

Tania spent 13 years at Metropolitan Holdings as a Senior Broker Consultant when she was head hunted to join Cadiz Asset Management as an Investment Consultant. When the Cadiz Enterprise Development investment was developed in 2012, Tania formed part of the Sales Team. After 9 years with Cadiz, she joined the Inyosi Empowerment team.

Team Assistant

Monica is a personal assistant to Evan Jones and assists the Inyosi team with administration.

In addition to that, Monica assists with potential investor applications and existing investors’ documentation requirements.

Prior to joining Inyosi, Monica worked for ACF as a receptionist and for Stellar Credit as the team assistant. Monica completed her final year at the college of Cape Town, whereby she attained her basic office administration certificate and has recently completed a Business Communication course at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

Social Media Marketer and PR Assistant

As a Social Media Marketer and Public Relations Coordinator, Robyn is responsible for creating, managing, and executing all social media and public relations efforts for Inyosi as well as overseeing our annual Impact Report. Robyn employs strategic thinking, creative writing, project management, data analysis, and communication skills in her role.

Throughout her studies, Robyn was elected to serve as chairperson and Editor in Chief of Her Campus, interned as a content manager at Be-cause Integrated Communications, and later assisted with academic research in Migration before joining Inyosi Empowerment in 2023.
